Chairman, Finance and Economic Development Committee
‘Born and bred’ in Brisbane, Adrian Schrinner has served as Councillor for the Chandler Ward in the eastern suburbs since late 2005. Following the 2008 election, the Lord Mayor appointed him as the Chairman of Council’s Finance Committee. In this role, Adrian assists the Lord Mayor with the management of the city’s $2.9 billion budget.
In mid 2010, the Lord Mayor asked Adrian to take on the additional responsibility of Council’s Economic Development program. This involves oversight of Brisbane Marketing —Brisbane’s Economic Development Agency.
In April 2011, Adrian was also endorsed as Brisbane’s Deputy Mayor to the new Lord Mayor, Councillor Graham Quirk. At 34, Adrian is the youngest person to ever serve as Deputy Mayor of the City of Brisbane.
Prior to his election, Adrian worked in government at both a local and federal level, as well as serving briefly in the Royal Australian Air Force. As a teenager, his passion was flying and Adrian obtained his pilots licence at age 17—before he got his drivers licence.
Adrian is upbeat about the future of our city and believes that Brisbane’s best years are still to come.
